Dominican Left Out In The Cold By WCLA Ranking Committee
Penguins Out In The Cold

Three WWLL D1 teams and a record eight WWLL D2 teams are ranked nationally in their respective USA Lacrosse WCLA polls. Ranked in WCLA D1 are ASU, UCLA and the club from San Diego State. Ranked in WCLA D2 are SBCC, Cal State San Marcos, Cal Poly SLO B, Cal State Fullerton, UC Santa Cruz, UC Irvine, UCLA B and University of San Diego.

Snubbed are the Penguins of Dominican University of California, a WWLL North D1 team and a full member of the WCLA. The undefeated Black & Gold were ranked in the February 20th and 27th polls at 4-0 and 6-0, respectively. The ranking committee dropped them out of the March 6th poll when Dominican was 7-0 and they remain unranked in the March 15th poll, with an 8-0 record, effectively leaving the Penguins out in the cold.

WCLA ranking committee chair Maurice Gibson responded to reporter inquiries that he has already put this on the committee meeting agenda for the March 22nd poll discussions but couldn't officially comment with further details.
